Mascarpone is an Italian cheese, originating from the regions of Piedmont-Lombardy.
It is a fresh cream cheese. An ingredient of choice in Italian cuisine, it is the composition of many recipes and especially in desserts like the famous tiramisu. Mascarpone is made from buffalo milk but cow's milk is also used.
The cheese has the appearance of a soft and consistant cream, with a very light beige color and has a sweet taste. It is consumed very quickly.
